May-July

Free eye exams  - Throughout June and July, eight Cobb County Public Library locations will become centers for vision care, hosting Vision To Learn mobile clinics. Children ages 5-18 can undergo comprehensive eye exams and receive prescription glasses at no cost.

Reserve a spot for a Vision to Learn appointment now before the schedule fills up.

Advance voting through May 17

Advance Voting is underway for the May 21 General Primary/Nonpartisan Election.  Click here for more information about in-person advance voting and locations.

Wednesday, May 15

Wine, dine, and everything will be fine at Wine Down Wednesdays at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre, 5239 Floyd Rd, Mableton.  On May 15, treat yourself to some fine country tunes starting at 7 p.m. featuring Homegrown - the Zac Brown Band Experience. The concert begins at 7 p.m. Bring your own food or purchase at the venue. General seating is free.

Look forward to monthly free concerts June 12, July 17, Aug. 14, Sept. 18 and Oct. 9. Doors open a 6 p.m.

Chairwoman Lisa Cupid will highlight Cobb's 2023 accomplishments as she delivers the 2024 Cobb State of the County Address, 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, May 16.

Rain Barrel Make and Take workshop, at Cobb Water education lunch & learn noon - 1 p.m. at 662 South Cobb Drive, Marietta. Workshops take place outside in our Wildlife & Rain Garden.  Free. Cobb residents only. Registration is required here.

Big trucks and little trucks are rolling to the Cobb Civic Center parking lot for the Cobb County Department of Transportation Touch A Truck event celebrating American Public Works Week 1 - 4 p.m.  at the Cobb Civic Center, 548 South Marietta Parkway SE, Marietta.

Saturday, May 25

Celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Culture at Dinner and Art in the Park at The Art Station-Big Shanty 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, May 23. Works by local artists will be on display celebrating and honoring Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage. The event is free and you may purchase food from My Vietnamese Food Truck.

Cobb County Government offices will be closed in observance of Memorial Day. Many services are available online.  Memorial Day is a solemn time when we remember and honor those who died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Memorial Day Ceremonies

• Pay your respects at noon Monday, May 27 at the Marietta National Cemetery, 500 Washington Ave NE. More information here.

• Powder Springs Memorial Day Ceremony: noon at the Veteran's Memorial in front of the Powder Springs Library, 4181 Atlanta St.  More information here.

• Smyrna Memorial Day Ceremony: 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial next to City Hall, 2800 King Street SE, Smyrna. More information here.

• Acworth Memorial Day Ceremony: 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. at Cauble Park at Patriots Point, 4425 Beach Street, Acworth. More information here.

Saturday, June 1 

Summer Reading Kickoff Party 4 - 6 p.m. at Switzer Library - Celebrate the start of our Summer Reading Program. From thrilling tales to daring adventures, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Bring the whole family and join in on the festivities, including games, crafts, and activities inspired by the theme "Adventure Begins at Your Library." Mini Golf Fundraiser at Switzer Library - Tee off inside the library at Switzer Library 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday, June 3.  The library book stacks will be transformed into a mini golf course, spanning the entire building with 19 unique holes to drop into.  There will be prizes for kids. Proceeds go towards enhancing library programs and collections for our community.

Admission is  $5 per person or $15 per family. Hosted by the Cobb Library Foundation
